IMPHAL, May 23: Kuki Civil Organizations of Chandel District condemned the Hengshi ambush in which militants killed 6 AR jawans and condole the jawans who have lost their lives in the ambush.

In a joint press statement, the Kuki Chiefs` Association (KCA) Khengjoi Block, Thadou Students` Association (TSA) Chandel District and KSO Khengjoi Block strongly condemned carrying out an attack on Assam Rifles personnel near Hengshi Village and disturbing the peace and tranquility in the area.

Attacking security forces near a populated village not only creates fear psychosis in the mind of the villagers of the area particularly to the women and children. But it also severely affected the daily activities of the poor villagers who are living hand to mouth, it contended.

Moreover, carrying out of such attack in the area instead of helping the villagers of the area who were still reeling under acute hardship due to last year`s multiple landslides and is uncalled for, it said.

While condoling and sharing the grief of the bereaved family members of the deceased jawans, the Kuki CSO also urged the responsible armed militant and other militant groups not to carry out similar attack in the future.

The CSO also appealed the Assam Rifles personnel to safely release those villagers allegedly rounded up after the incident and not to harass innocent villagers of the area.

It is worth mentioning that some well armed militants of valley based insurgency groups killed 6 jawans of 29 Assam Rifles in an ambushed in between Hengshi and Tujang Village along Tengnoupal-New Samtal Road in Chandel District on May 22.
