Minister Ratan extends aid to Mayang Imphal flood victims

IMPHAL, May 23: Education Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar Singh today inspected the flooded areas of Mayang Imphal following the incessant rains in the past few days.

Incessant rain in the past few days have left many places in the State flooded.

A breach in Imphal River also badly affected Mayang Imphal especially Loukok, Sekmaijing, Thongam, Laphupat Tera, Hiyangkhong, Mayang Imphal Chirai, Arong Nongmaikhong.

The minister today responded to the situation and formed a quick response team of his supporters and visited the affected sites. The minister and his team utilised a JCB, Tata Dipper to help the affected areas.

He further assured the people of all possible help.

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall continues in the State worrying the people in several areas, especially those living near the river banks.

People of Singjamei Sapam Leikai to Singjamei Aheibam Leikai had also been worried with the recent weather and the rising water level of the Imphal River.

Locals led by Eikhoi Club of Oinam Thingel secretary Oinam Boby and others strengthen the embankment of the river.

The step was taken up as the government authorities have remained silent on the plights of the locals.

On the other hand, Kshetrigao constituency social worker Nahakpam Indrajit today extended some relief to flood affected families of Porompat Pangal Leirak at the Star Sporting Club Imphal Eastdistrict.

Items distributed included some rice bags, dal, salt packets and some eatables.

The relief materials which distributed to flood effected families were some gunny bag of rice, dal, salts packets and some eatable oils. After the flood already effected families are still facing various grievances to live so the social worker he extended some material them.
