IMPHAL, May 25: Phungreiyur Welfare Association Premi Shangh has clarified that the proposed construction of an Ukhrul House in Imphal has neither hidden agenda nor does it have any political bearing.

Speaking to media persons at the Manipur Press Club today Premi said, there is a need to provide some kind of accommodation to people from Ukhrul coming to Imphal for short stays.

She added, sometimes parents or guardians whose children and wards are studying in Imphal come to check on them, and they need a shelter for the night. Or people come to avail medical facilities in Imphal and spend huge expenditures in lodging, she said.

She said allegations from the Peoples’ Movement for Resurgent Manipur claiming that the proposal for an Ukhrul House in Imphal has a hidden agenda of a few politicians who are interested in dividing the hills and the valley are baseless and unfounded.

She said the proposal is only to provide proper accommodation to the people of Ukhrul during their stay in Imphal.

It aims to provide a safe, hygienic and affordable shelter home for the people of Ukhrul in the State capital, she claimed.
