Talks with GoI have reached crucial stage: NSCN-IM

DIMAPUR, May 17 (NNN): NSCN-IM said today that the Government of India and the outfit in their political negotiations “have now reached the most crucial and concluding stage”. Therefore the NSCN-IM advocated for Naga unity and reconciliation.

“Now the biggest question to the Nagas is, `how long the NSCN should wait for all to join as one?’ The Govt. of India and the NSCN in their political negotiations have now reached the most crucial and concluding stage. It will therefore be unwise, rather absurd on the part of the Nagas to prolong or wait indefinitely. The world is racing even for a split of second and how can the Nagas think of nineteen (19) years of negotiation as not long enough?,” the NSCN-IM asked today.

“We have signed the Covenant of Naga Reconciliation on July 13, 2009 and it was duly signed by Mr. S.S. Khaplang, Mr. Singya and Mr. Isak Chishi Swu who are the highest authorities of the three Naga political (underground) groups,” it said while adding, “We have committed to the Naga people and to God that we will achieve Naga Reconciliation on the basis of the Historical and Political rights of the Nagas. But unfortunately Mr. S.S. Khaplang backed out from this historic Agreement which was aimed at finding meaningful and permanent Reconciliations amongst the Naga Political groups. But we leave the matter to the Naga people and to God to judge”.

According to NSCN-IM, when Kitovi parted ways with S.S. Khaplang, blaming the latter for withdrawal from the Naga reconciliation process it was thought that Kitovi was seriously committed to the cause of unity and reconciliation.

“When the going became very serious suddenly Kitovi issued a statement that they will not join force with the NSCN under the Collective Leaderships of Mr. Isak Chishi Swu and Mr. Th. Muivah, they would rather seek separate talks and that too for the Nagas of Nagaland only and approached the Govt. of India to appoint a separate Interlocutor to which the Government of India candidly said, no!” the NSCN-IM stated.

The NSCN-IM then said thatin 2014 Singya and his group exposed of their double standards and dishonesty when their group confessed that their President was none other than Adino.

“This startling disclosure of Mr. Singya and his group on May 2, 2014 during the Naga Reconciliation Meeting at Kolkata completely exposed their mischief and their non committal to the Naga Reconciliation urged upon the Nagas to come forward so as to march forward in a united strength to reach a lasting peace and prosperous future of the Nagas.

With forgiveness all the Nagas should come together and in one accord of mind we should enter the Promised Land, was the call of Mr. Isak Chishi Swu,” it said and added, “it is noted and highly appreciated that large numbers have responded to the call of Mr. Isak Chishi Swu and still many are expected to respond to his historic call”.

The NSCN-IM then said, in these years of our endeavours with the trying moments of ups and downs in the journey the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) has done their utmost and the history tomorrow will tell the generations to come of their yeomen services rendered for Nagas reconciliation.

“Nagas also cannot forget the selfless sacrifices made by many peace loving persons from across the world both individually and by organizations that have helped the Nagas to cease violence and create conducive environment to reconcile for united Nagalim.

The NSCN continues to look up to them with undiminished hopes that they will give more thrust once and for all to achieve our long cherished wish for unity and reconciliation,” it added.
