IMPHAL, May 23: Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI), Tangkhul People’s Organization Imphal (TPOI) and Imphal Tangkhul Shanao Long (ITSL) jointly served an ultimatum to the Chief Minister today regarding gory murder of KS Wungathing of Shokvao village, Ukhrul district by wayward mob of Lilasing Khongnangkhong, Imphal.
In a joint statement, the Tangkhul bodies contended that in an unprecedented and horrible incident, KS Wungathing, 42 was fatally assaulted by a group of wayward mob of Lilasing Khongnangkhong on May 17 at around 4.40 am.
It narrated that on May 16 morning, the deceased set out from his village to visit his sisters Yarmila and Tabitha with Rs 24, 000 in his pocket given to him by his elder brother KS Prosing.
Most shockingly, KS Wungathing who is a country simpleton who never indulged in narcotics and intoxicants was found in coma after being heavily thrashed by a group of wayward mob who are still unidentified on the pretext allegation that the said person was committing theft, it said.
However, the mob and the residents could not provide any evidence or proof of their allegation. On the contrary, his pocket money was found missing from his pockets too. This gory incident has left every tribal people of the State shocked and aghast, the statement stated.
Informing that KS Wungathing succumbed to the indiscriminate lynching of the mob within a few minutes at RIMS on the same day, the bodies demanded immediate arrest of all the members/residents of Lilasing Khongnangkhong mob involved in the inhumane act and ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh to the deceased’s family.
It also demanded employment to the nearest kin of the deceased.
In the advent of failure to meet the demands within ten days, the frontal organizations would launch vehement agitations against the government for injustice, caste tolerance and apathy towards the cause of the minority and the innocent, the bodies cautioned.
