SADAR HILLS, Aug 8 : Two low intensity handmade IED exploded this morning at around 10.45 along National Highway-2 while another similar type of bomb found at the same place was detonated by bomb experts later in the evening.
The blast site is located just 3 Kms from Kangpokpi town along Imphal-Dimapur road between Kangpokpi and S Changoubung village under Kangpokpi police station.
Two BSF personnel who were among the convoy on a mini bus bearing Regd.No. AS01-FC- 8780 sustained minor injuries in the blast. The convoy was heading toward Dimapur side from Churachandpur.
The injured personnel have been identified as Ct Anil Kumar and Ct Lalji Yadav of 54 Bn Border Security Force. While the former sustained minor splinter injury on his hand the later sustained minor splinter injury on his leg.
The convoy proceeded towards its destiny after first aid was administered to the injured personnel at the nearest Assam Rifles post under Red Shield Division in Senapati district.
Kangpokpi and Senapati police personnel including top officials of Assam Rifles rushed to the blast site and took stock of the situation while cordoning off the area. Traffic along the highway was disrupted for nearly an hour.
Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi, Sadar Hills and Kuki Women Union, Sadar Hills have vehemently condemned the bomb blast along National Highway-2 ‘in the strongest term’ while conveying its extreme displeasure.
The Kuki Inpi said that terrorism knows no limits or Nationalities and has no solution but the creation of communal disharmony and unstable environment.
The Kuki Women Union also censured the blast injuring two BSF personnel and questioned the reason behind such a destructive act in Sadar Hills.
The women body further said “we do not accept any destructive elements who have no sense of humanity to exist in our area and we are vehemently against such activities.”
The civil bodies also asked responsible groups or individuals not to repeat such activities in Sadar Hills stating that civil society organization will not tolerate such destructive activities in future.
