People from states in north eastern India have to face a lot of prejudice and stereotyping because of their features, and it’s even worse for women who are not only judged by their ethnicity but also due to the way they dress.
Not a long time back, a Manipuri woman was faced harassment by an official on Delhi’s IGI airport and joined many other women from north east who have faced discrimination.
A poem by a woman from north east India addresses all these problems and also hits out at everything from people judging her by the way she dresses or her features and asks them to follow some rules, since ‘if you still don’t obey these rules, my forefathers were headhunters’.
