Independent candidate, Ashab Uddin of Jiribam constituency is not a non Manipuri and before social boycotting him the civil voluntary organisation should investigate thoroughly regarding the matter said Abdula Pathan, president of Manipur Muslim Welfare Organisation.
Speaking at a press meet held at its office, Hatta Minuthong, Imphal east today, Abdula Pathan said that MMWO supports the decision of JCILPS of taking 1951 as the base year to exclude non-indigenous population.
Regarding Ashab Uddin, he said that MMWO has investigated his profile a winning candidate in the 11th assembly election of Jiribam constituency. Ashab Uddin was elected as pradhan for 2 terms from Imphal east district (now Jiribam), he added.
He pointed out that Ashab Uddin’s family has been settling in the state before 1906. And MMWO has in possession of documents of revenue or patta records given by the government of Manipur to Ashab’s family, he said.
Ashab‘s father was a government employee of education department of Manipur, he added.
