IMPHAL, Mar 25: In his first official visit to Delhi after the formation of the BJP-led Government in the State, Chief Minister N Biren will be leaving Imphal for the National capital tomorrow.
He will be accompanied by Cabinet Minister Th Biswajit.
The visit came after the distribution of portfolios to Cabinet Ministers and induction of Parliamentary Secretaries and also after the end of first session of the 11th State Legislative Assembly.
Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Y Khemchand and president of BJP State unit, K Bhabananda had already left for Delhi yesterday.
The CM-led team will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and National president of BJP, Amit Shah and may discuss core issues pertaining to the State.
The team may return to Imphal on March 28.
Many Congress MLAs led by O Ibobi have also left Imphal. The visit has been considered as an important political development by political experts.
During an interaction programme with members of the Editors’ Guild, Manipur at his office chamber, Chief Minister N Biren said that he will approach the Centre to provide two choppers to the State Government so that the same may be used as ambulance to air lift sick and ailing people from the hill and interior areas.
The Chief Minister also said that he will put it before the Centre to help construct all women markets at all the hill district headquarters.
This will go a long way in economically empowering women in the hill districts, he said.
Other points which the Chief Minister proposes to put up before the Centre include constructing all weather, double lane roads to connect the hill district headquarters with Imphal.
Plans will also be put into action to better public transport by reintroducing semi-low floor buses on certain routes, added the Chief Minister.
