The Deputy Commissioner and his team, comprising of officials from some major departments and the DRDA, embarked on the tour on Monday. Their visit primarily was meant to inspect the construction of a Girl’s Hostel there but the team studied other projects taken up by the Government, said an accompanying official.
Henglep sub-divisional headquarters though barely 50 kms away from the district headquarters remains the most inaccessible region in the district due to the pathetic road condition. Some officials have blamed the damp and loose soil for the wretched condition but others have attributed it to Government apathy.
Already briefed extensively on the condition there, the DC and his team brought with them a Shaktiman truck to take them to the sub-divisional headquarters.
With R Sudhan who assumed charge as the Deputy Commissioner during the run up to the just concluded Assembly election already setting his foot at Henglep, he has now set his sight at Behiang, the last bordering village with Myanmar in Singngat sub-division.
He will be visiting the village on April 11 to inspect the Primary Health Sub-Centre there, said a source.
