IMPHAL, May 25: Altogether 16 personnel of 8 Manipur Rifles, who were posted as the security escorts of former Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Th Lokeshore were produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal West today in connection with a case registered against the assault of a Sub-Inspector.

The MR personnel are identified as Havaldar Maisnam Shanta of Thoubal Wangmataba, Havaldar Th Lakshamon of Narankonjin Makha Leikai, Havaldar Md Mahiruddin of Sangaiyumpham Nungphou, Thingujam Chandramohan of Naranseina Mamang Leikai, Th Sumanta of Wangbal Part II, Mayengbam Brojendro of Wangbal Lamboithong Leikai, Huidrom Subhas of Hiyanglam Waikhom Leikai, Laishram Thoi of Brahmapur Bamon leikai, Kapai Yaruikhai of Ngainga village in Somdal, Potsangbam Chaoba of Malom Tulihal, Kshetrimayum Robert of Kakching Mayai Leikai, Md Abdul Masjid Khan of Lilong Turel Ahanbi, Dumchuingam Kamson of Noney Ward Number IV, Tahir Ali of Irong Chesaba, Nahakpam Rocky of Wangkhei Ayangpali and Nameirakpam Ango of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai.

They were produced by a team of CID with a prayer for three days police custody remand for the accused under FIR number 65 (5) 2015 City police station registered under Section 325/354/386/427/34 of IPC and Section 27 of Arms Act.

Investigation Officer of the case submitted before the Court that Vandana Mutum (36) w/o Amitabh Singh Arambam of Sagolband Bijoy Govinda Akham Leikai filed a report in City police station on May 12, 2015 alleging that she along with her husband and two sons while returning home on a Maruti Gypsy were suddenly stopped by escort personnel of former Speaker Th Lokeshore on the western side of Kangla Gate, who pulled down his husband from the driver seat and assaulted him by using their weapons issued to them.

The IO quoting the report stated that the complainant along with her sons got down from the vehicle and requested the escort personnel to stop assaulting her husband but they continued to do so.

One of the escort personnel pushed the complainant and she along with her sons fell down on the road. Her husband sustained multiple injuries on his head and other parts of his body. One of the escort personnel snatched her husband’s mobile handset and gold chain worth Rs 90,000, the IO contended. Out of the 16 MR personnel, 14 filed bail applications in the Court. The Court after hearing all the submissions remanded all the accused to one day police custody and asked the IO to produce them tomorrow.

Mention may be made that Commander of the escort was suspended 48 hours after City police registered a case regarding the incident.
