IMPHAL, Jun 11: CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam has categorically stated that it’s not time for politicians to implement development programmes based on parochial political outlook.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of a newly constructed entrance gate of Nongpok Panthoibi premises, Kakwa Naorem Leikai today.
“We, politicians should not work by segregating citizens who do not vote for us from those who voted for us”, Shyam stated.
Claiming that he has been taking up different development programmes at different areas of Langthabal Assembly Constituency, Shyam decried that some elements have been working continuously to project him in the wrong light.
He then appealed to all concerned to learn to appreciate good works done by anyone.
Regarding National Food Security Act (NFSA), the CAF&PD Minister said that there have been complaints about non-distribution of PDS rice for some particular months.
For Langthabal AC, PDS rice has been distributed for the month of March, rice quota for the month of April is being distributed and efforts are on to distribute rice allocation for the month of June, informed the Minister.
Rice which should be distributed to public under NFSA cannot be sold in the market. If any quantity of rice allocated under NFSA goes missing, the elected Members concerned should bear responsibility.
All the roads and IVRs of Langthabal AC would be repaired/re-constructed within five years. Roads measuring 20 Kms in aggregate would be constructed within the current year, Shyam assured the gathering.
He went on to claim that the entrance gate inaugurated today would certainly draw people’s attraction and the area would be developed as a place of recreation for senior citizens.
Apart from the Gambhir Singh memorial complex and Manipur University entrance gate, the entrance gate of Nongpok Panthoibi complex inaugurated today would be another landmark structure along Imphal-Lilong section of Imphal-Moreh highway, he added.
