IMPHAL, Jun 11: The Northern Liangmai Village Chairmen Association (NLVCA) consisting of 21 villages has sought a special package from Chief Minister N Biren for developing Kuilong area under Tamei subdivision of Tamenglong district.

In a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister jointly signed by its president Lungkhambou and secretary Ashokbou, the Association “fervently requested” N Biren to declare “Northern Liangmai Area in Manipur as a ‘focused area’ of the State for development by announcing a separate special package for the area.”

Accordingly, the Association presented an 8-point proposal to the Chief Minister through the memorandum.

The proposals are for the construction of a PMGSY road from Kotlen to Kuilong (27 km); setting up of a Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Kuilong; establishment of a sub-divisional level animal husbandry office at Kabangning; setting up of a residential school (EMRS) at Kuilong; construction of market shed between Kadi-5 and Kuilong-2 (Niurek Valley); establishment of a State Mithun Breeding Farm at Kadi-4 under RKVY Manipur; setting up of a Residential Institute & Training Centre (RITC) for women; and preservation and development of nine cluster beauty hotspots and heritage sites at Kuilong-1.

In the memorandum, the 21 village association highlighted the pathetic condition of Kuilong area saying it is the most ‘neglected area’ of the State. The Association expressed hope that the Chief Minister will extend the needed service to the area.
