CHURACHANDPUR | Dec 23 : Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) home delivery service was launched today by Agriculture, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry minister, V. Hangkhanlian in the presence of Churachandpur DC, Shyam Lal Poonia, at Dorcas Hall, New Lamka, Churchandpur district today.
Hangkhanlian said that under scheme initiated by the Prime minister, Narendra Modi called Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), crores of families of the nation under BPL or economically backward had given LPG connection.
He continued that PMUY is a social welfare scheme of the present government launched for the beneficiaries to get the subsidy directly from the central government. The aim of the scheme is to replace the hazardous smoke by cooking on firewood, which is mostly practice in the villages, he added.
The minister further congratulated the PMUY beneficiaries and urged the LPG distributors and beneficiaries of the district to report to the concerned appellate authority chaired by DC of Churachandpur so that nobody is left out from the scheme.
The programme was also attended by chairman of ADC, Churachandpur, Khaipao Haokip and manager of LPG-S, Imphal II LSA, Stephen C Guite.
