IMPHAL, Jan 27: Altogether 57 hunger-strikers of Council of Teachers Association (COTA) have been jailed so far in connection with the fast-unto-death strike demanding the 6th revised central pay for the government school teachers of the state.
A release of the COTA said that 12 teachers who are on hunger strike at Keishampat Junction have been arrested by the police today. The arrested teachers were M. Basanta. Th. Ibotombi, Ch. Homen, M. Lalmani, K. Parbati, M. Ibohal, K. Pishak, M. Shyamkishore, Dr. S. Shantibala, Kh. Parbati, W. Pramodini and G. Priyasakhi.
Further, the COTA has demanded the concerned authority to provide beds for the teachers who have been lodged at Sajiwa and Central jails.
