IMPHAL, Feb 8: The (late) Khumukcham Achou memorial awards for poor meritorious students were distributed today in a function organized by Irengbam Cultural and Sports Association at Irengbam Community Hall, Bishnupur.
The award function was attended by MLA Dr. I. Ibohanbi Singh, Yumnam Tombung and Ng. Madan Meitei as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the function, MLA Ibohanbi stated that the poor students should be supported by all to make them excel in their career. Various social organizations and public leaders should provide utmost assistance to the economically backward students.
The students should work hard to be successful in their lives by devoting their time and labour to studies and not in non-productive activities, he noted.
Altogether five students were given the meritorious awards. They were Oinam Muhindro, Ngangom Tulsiram, Irengbam Saratchandra, Nongthombam Sadananda and Oinam Milan.
The awards have been donated by Khumukcham Jibon, son of (late) Khumukcham Achou.
