IMPHAL, Sept 11: In yet another crime against women in the state, a young woman aged about 25 years was found brutally murdered after allegedly gang-raped by some unknown persons at Cheirao Ching under Lamphel Police Station at 2 pm today.
The identity of the deceased woman is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, the partly naked dead body of the woman was first discovered by the local children who were playing around the foothills of Chierao Ching this afternoon and later reported the matter to their elders.
A team of Lamphel Police led by SDPO H Balaram rushed to the spot as soon as they received the information from the residents of Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai.
The police found the victim partially undressed amidst bushes. She was found wearing black and red checked T-shirt with no clothing on her lower portion.
There were also severe injury marks around her neck which is indicative of having killed the woman by strangulation.
Further, the police also recovered one ladies’ leather hand bag, pair of ladies’ shoes, a bottle of ink remover ‘Kores Erazex’ , an empty bottle of Indian made foreign liquor ‘Directors’ Special’, a plastic bottle containing water and a pair of black jeans which was assumed to be worn by the deceased from the crime spot.
The deceased woman is having fair complexion, short hair and about five-foot tall. She seems to belong to a tribal community.
The dead body was retrieved from the spot by the Lamphel Police and deposited to RIMS mortuary for post-mortem examination.
