IMPHAL, Sept 24: Manipur University defeated Calcutta University by 5-1 in the last knockout phase match played today at Sambalpur University, Orissa.
The scorers of Manipur University were Rajnikanta (two goals) Fernando (two goals) and Pradipkumar (one goal).
With this win, MU has qualified for All India Inter Zonal Football (M) Tournament, 2011.
The other qualifiers of the final phase are Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi, Sambalpur University, Orissa, and Burdwan University, Burdwan.
In the 1st final league match played today evening, Manipur University beat host team Sambalpur University by 3-0.
R Augustine, a student of United College Chandel representing MU scored all the three goals in 5th, 20th and 67th minutes. He was basically a defender but today he played in the forward lines and thus scored all the goals.
Manipur University will play against Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi and Burdwan University tomorrow.
