IMPHAL, April 5: The state Governor Gurbachan Jagat, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th Lokeshwar Singh have sent in their goodwill messages to the state on the occasion of the Good Friday.
Greeting the people of the state, the Governor in his message has stated “I heartily greet the people of Manipur, specially our Christian brethren on the sacred occasion of Good Friday, 2012”.
“Good Friday symbolizes the supreme and selfless sacrifice of Lord Jesus Christ for strengthening the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and love amongst mankind. Born to rebuild a new world order, based on justice, truth, equality, compassion,, love, peace and fraternity, Lord Jesus preached the message of peaceful co-existence of mankind. His resurrection symbolizes the decisive victory of Good over Evil”.
The governor further expressed “On this sacred occasion, let all of us rededicate ourselves to the noble ideals of peace, harmony and brotherhood amongst different sections of our society. I am confident that the occasion will be observed in its true spirit. I also wish the people of Manipur a happy Easter”.
The state Chief Minister in his message has stated, “I have great pleasure in greeting the people of Manipur especially our Christian brethren on the auspicious occasion of Good Friday”.
“Good Friday reminds us of the supreme sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ for mankind. The celebration of Good Friday and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday symbolizes the victory of good over evil, hatred and cruelty. On this solemn occasion, let us rededicate ourselves to the noble ideas of love, peace and forgiveness; and strengthen the bonds of friendship, brotherhood and unity amongst the different groups of people in the State”.
He ended his message with a “May the Good Friday and Easter bring peace and happiness to all”.
Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker Th Lokeshwar also greeted the people of Manipur, particularly the Christians on the occasion.
In his message to the people, Lokeshwar said with the Good Friday comes tomorrow, let us remember Lord Jesus who sacrificed his life to bring a peaceful world where violence has no place.
“May the Good Friday bring a peaceful and stable Manipur by forgetting our differences and religions”, the speaker added.
