IMPHAL, September 18: The ZYP (AMN) in a press statement signed by its joint secretary David Kamei has expressed its concern over the functioning of the district judicial court at Imphal after it has been shifted for the last many years on the pretext that there are underground elements.

It has further said, “It cannot see any appropriate reason for shifting of judicial court to Imphal while considering the fact that Imphal is no safe zone from dozens of undergrounds organizations”.

It further claimed, “It is reliably learnt that the magistrate who is to dispense the benefit of justice to the people even at Imphal are on look after basis by other court magistrates who are already overburdened. The district judicial court without having its own regular magistrate is literally a defunct court”.

“When even justice delivery system has been denied to the people of the district, there is every reason for lack development in the district.”

“There is also no reason why the district Secretariat which has been inaugurated in 2011 has been lying unutilized till date.”

It has further threastened to launched “strong democratic protest” unless the government take up remedial measures at the earliest and the govt. should be held responsible for any eventuality, it concluded.
