IMPHAL, November 17: Lilong police paraded eight vehicle lifters along with recovered 10 stolen vehicles and seized machines used in making fake documents infront of media persons at Lilong Police Station today late evening.
The arrested eight vehicle lifters have been identified as Md Rajauddin, 35, son of Ziauddin of Lilong Dam Makha, Md Mustaque, 23, son of Rahimuddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong, Md zakaria, 27, son of Md Idrif of Lilong Haoreibi Mayai Leikai, Md Abaz Khan, 31, son of Rajaulhaq Thoubal Moijing, (PULF surrenderee), Md Riyaur Rahaman, 27, son of Md Rahim of Lilong Mayai Leikai, Md Wakar Yunuj, 21, son of late Alauddin of Lilong Bazaar and Md Abdul Wahid, 22, son of Serajuddin of Lilong Haoireibi Mayai Leikai, Md Kairuiddin, 22, Lilong Chingkham Makha Leikai.
The recovered vehicles are four Honda Activa, two Honda Pleasure, two Suzuki Access, and one Wego.
The seized machines and materials used in making fake documents are one packet of tracing paper, one role of lamination polythene, two numbers of non-judicial stamp papers, three fake smart cards, one spiral binding machine, one lamination machine, one canon colour printer cum scanner, one Apson dot matrix printer, one Samsung laptop, two fake driving licences, stamps, seals and BDO Thoubal signed fake documents.
Speaking to media persons at the police station, Muheiyuddin, who is an executive member of the civil organization ANJUMAN Islayi, said that yesterday early morning, Officer-in-charge of Lilong Police Station, Md Tomba had made a phone call to him saying that some vehicle lifters are present in the Lilong area and that the police needs help from ANJUMAN in arresting them.
And as follow up action, a team of Lilong police led by OC Md Tomba and a team of ANJUMAN raided the house of one Rajauddin and arrested him along with four stolen vehicles.
The combined team further raided the house of one Md Salim, 35, son of Abdul Helim of Lilong Dam Maning and recovered two two-wheelers but Salim manage to flee from the scene along with some of his friends by firing some blank round in a Maruti A Star car blue in colour.
After which Lilong police informed the Imphal Police Station that some persons have fled from the area. Acting on the information Imphal police arrested the four persons from near the Imphal Police Station yesterday evening, but Salim was missing.
