Speaking to media persons in at the Trinamool Congress office, Joykishan said that the people must acknowledge the important role of the police who are relentlessly discharging their duty to protect the public.

He lamented that it has become a common phenomenon for militant groups to openly misbehave once they sign a peace pact with the government.

It appears that the peace pact is construed as a licence to carry out anti-social activities, he further said.

The MLA further maintained that the matter of militant groups constantly breaking ground rules will be apprised to the central leaders to highlight the issue at the national level.

Meanwhile, the Headquarter VengWomen Welfare Committee has also condemned the incident.

S Kamthianmuan, President of the Zomi Students’ Federation (ZSF) General Head Quarter in a press release today said that the ZSF condemns the callous adventurism of the surrendered cadres of KCP (Nongrem Khomba) being kept under the custody of 46 Assam Riffles in the strongest terms.

The release said that the presence of the outfit in the district  has not only threatened the hard earned peace and tranquillity of the place but at the same time posed a prevailing fear psychosis to the people of the district.

The involvement of KCP (Nongrem Khomba) cadres in the district hospital incident of September 10 in broad daylight is a culmination of the undercurrent that has swept the district since their presence, the release said and added that this is not the first time the cadres of the group had created disturbances.

The ZSF at the same time is equally perturbed as to how the 46 AR allowed the cadre the liberty to roam freely in combat uniform in the district”, it continued and added that the ZSF will not remain a mute spectator until and unless the cadres of the outfit are moved from the district.
