IMPHAL, Oct 3: The Suspension of Operation (SoO), signed between the concerned authorities and Kuki militants has been extended for another one year informed a highly placed source.
SoO signed during 2008 between the government of India and the Kuki militants.The development came after a tripartite talk held between the concerned Governments between the Kuki militant held on September 29 in New Delhi.
While speaking to IFP, the source informed that the Union Secretary Home, GK Pillai will be coming to Manipur to discuss the modalities of the peace dialogue, the much expected progress of the Kuki Militant after started depositing their arms under a double locker.
It may be recalled that as per the ground rules of the SoO one of the oldest Militant groups among, Kuki National Front (KNF) deposited their arms for the first time to the concerned authorities. As per the militant group the deposition of arms was a major steps for finding a political settlement for the prolonged demand of the Kuki militants ‘Kuki Land’ or statehood for Kuki people.
