IMPHAL, June 26: The Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) today pick-up a person from Singjamei Sougrakpam Leikai for selling expired Good Night mosquito repellents by changing their manufacturing date.
The student body identified the man as Tuna Kumar Paswant from Bihar son of Vobardhan Paswant and presently residing at Nagamapal.
He was later handed over to Imphal Police Station.
In his statement, Tuna Kumar said he had arrived in Manipur some about three months back and the mosquito repellants were sold to him by a lady from Kangpokpi at the rate of Rs 47.
He was found selling it for Rs 50.
Meanwhile, speaking to media persons, DESAM vice president Thoithoi said interestingly Tuna Kumar was found holding a driving licence issued by the District Transport Officer, Ukhrul. The licence was found to be issued in July 2014, even though the man has said he had arrived in the State just three months back, he said.
The address in the driving licence was also found to be given as Paona Bazar, he continued.
Thoitoi has appealed to the concern authorities to take action against the officer who issued the licence without proper verification for some money.
He said demands for implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in the State, the conduct of such officers is unfortunate.
