IMPHAL, Aug 7: After taking over as the Army Commander, Eastern Command, Lt General Praveen Bakshi accompanied by Lt General Bipin Rawat, GOC 3 Corps visited Leimakhong Garrison on August 7.
According to a press release of PRO Defence, the Army Commander was briefed by GOC Red Shield Division on the prevailing security situation in the area of responsibility, followed by interaction with Officers and Commanders of the formation.
The Army Commander reviewed the security environment and operations being carried out in the State to combat militancy in the affected areas.
The General Officer expressed satisfaction and complimented all ranks of the Division for their all round endeavours to combat insurgency effectively in the State.
He directed all ranks to ensure people friendly operations in maintaining normalcy in the area and also emphasized on the need for highest standard of military ethos in conduct of justified operation in the State of Manipur, the release stated.
