IMPHAL, August 14: In continuation of series of health camp under the project titled `Humanitarian Support to People Affected by Conflict in Manipur`, Women Action for Development (WAD) with the support of Action aid and ECHO has organised a one day free medical camp at Khongjom Tekcham Laibung community Hall, under Thoubal District on August 13.
According to a release of WAD, the health camp aimed to bring health awareness to the people affected by various conflicts in Manipur. During the health camp, WAD was able to disseminate the importance of the project.
A team of professionals including Dr. Chandramani, Dr. Bodhachandra, Dr. Gambhini, Dr. Absharuddin and Dr. Thaidema Devi from Khongjom Primary Health Center along with nurses including Roshini Devi and M. Sobita Devi provided their valuable professional contribution, informed the statement.
Free health checkup and distribution of various medicines in free of cost were main service provided during the health camp, it said.
A number of conflict affected persons who might have psychological problems were also screened by the train caregivers of WAD, it continued.
The health camp also provided general awareness about the psychosocial problems, mental illness and their treatments and methods of prevention to the villagers, it said.
The Major health problems were abdomen pain, skin disease, fever, hypertension, body ache, general illness, joint pain, cough, stomach burning; loose muscle, chest pain, cough, limb ache, dizziness etc. camp up. WAD was able to mobilise at least 216 villagers including 118 women and 98 children from Khongjom Tekcham Leikai and other adjourning villages, it said.
