IMPHAL, Nov 18: Four shops at Lilong Turel Ahanbi Kaleikhong Thong in Thoubal district have been set ablaze by unidentified persons on the intervening night of November 17 and 18 destroying properties worth lakhs of rupees.
Claiming this in a press release, Turel Ahanbi Mayai Leikai Social Welfare and Development Association informed that the shops belong to Md Ziour Rahman son of Late Abdul Zalil; Md Lukman son of Late Nahatomba; Guleiman son of Late Abdul Manab and Md Ayajuddin son of Late Abdul Zalil.
The association said following the arson, a public meeting was convened at Kaleikhong Thong Makhong today. The meeting presided over by Alhaj Haji Khalique unanimously adopted certain resolutions in connection with the incident.
It resolved to express unhappiness on Thoubal District Fire Service for not coming to the spot where the fire broke out despite informing them about the unfortunate incident in time.
It further resolved to urge the concerned authorities to avail a fire service under Lilong sub-division at the earliest.
The gathering also strongly resolved to produce the miscreants behind the arson by concerned local club, JAC and trust if they do not surrender within five days.
