IMPHAL, December 22: Thangmeiband MLA Joykishan today alleged that since the Congress came to power in the State, Assembly sessions are being conducted for namesake only.

Calling a press conference at his residence today, a day after the two-day long 12th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly concluded yesterday, Joykishan said all replies of the government made during the Assembly sessions are false.

He said the present State government is trying to mislead the people by wrongly interpreting democracy.

He further charged the State government of always shortening the Assembly session so that there are not many discussions and their wrongdoings are not divulged to the people.

Joykishan further charged that the government has not given any accurate and detailed reply to an enquiry made about any developmental work.

He added on most occasions, the government has replied that work is under process and will look into the matter seriously.

This is a clear sign of the government trying to evade accurate replies as no proper work has been done, he claimed.

The MLA further charged the CAF&PD of misusing PDS items for their own.

He elaborated during the Assembly session which concluded yesterday, replying to a question, the CAF&PD minister had said all PDS items were sanctioned in time, however, Thangmeiband constituency is yet to receive any PDS items meant for the constituency for the month of January 2014 and April 2015.

He continued he has already met with the concerned minister and the officials in this regard, however, to no avail.

Joykishan said he will highlight all the issues to the concerned Union Minister at the earliest.

He further highlighted that although the concerned minister had said during the Assembly session that he has no idea of release of additional quota of PDS rice for Thangmeiband Assembly the District Supply Officer, who is an official of the department under him had notified an additional quota of 162.92 quintals of adhoc BPL Rice for Thangmeiband for 2013.

He said replying to a question as to why 62 quintals which was yet to be sanctioned was not sanctioned, the minister said the notification was wrong.

He said if the minister himself had no knowledge of the notification, then the minister is not encouraging any relation between himself and his officials.

He further said that the BJP will bring a corrupt free government after the 2017 election.

Meanwhile, after the press briefing, the MLA also visited chief editor of local vernacular ‘Paojel’ at the RIMS ICU, where the editor is presently undergoing treatment.
