IMPHAL, February 22: In a setback to the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur’s preparation regarding the Class XII examination which commenced today, 15 of the 18 Close Circuit Television cameras installed at Biramangol College, Sawombung were this morning found dismantled by miscreants ahead of the commencement of the examination.

Installation of the CCTV cameras at several of the examination centres was taken up as a pilot project this year to ensure proper, peaceful and fair conduct of the examination in the State.

However, unfortunately some miscreants seem to be in disagreement with the Council’s attempt to organise the examination in a free and fair manner.

The dismantled cameras’ were found this morning around 8:40 by the authorities, said principal in charge Ch Chonjon.

He said the cameras were fine about an hour or so ago.

The incident occurred before the invigilators had distributed the question papers and as such it could have been committed by some students, although the school authority is not sure, he observed.

The police have already arrived at the spot, he added.

Meanwhile, despite of the circumstances, the examination was conducted in a peaceful manner, he said.
