IMPHAL Jan 6: A land dispute between two villages within Senapati District resulted in a confrontation amongst the villagers leaving two villagers seriously wounded and several injured.
The incident took place under Kangpokpi police station between Thonglan village and Songyang village at around 4 pm yesterday. A long standing encroachment issue was the cause of the flare up, sources said.
The villagers of Thonglan village using hunting rifles allegedly shot at the villagers of Songyang and two residents were seriously injured.
The injured persons are identified as Paominlen Kipgen ,22, and Mongkham Kipgen ,30.
Addition security forces have been deployed to the villages to subdue the tension.
