IMPHAL, Apr 25: With the BJP-led coalition Government gearing up to announce the programmes it would implement within 100 days in the next couple of days, Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren has asserted that the coalition would not need to go for election campaigns to win the Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections provided the coalition partners can retain the massive public support and trust they are enjoying at the moment.
Addressing an executive meeting of BJP Manipur Pradesh held today at the Chandrakirti Auditorium, Palace Compound, Biren claimed that the Government has drawn up a list of 100 days programmes.
Together with heads of different departments, the Government has studied several programmes which are pending, would be completed and taken up anew within 100 days.
The 100 days programmes would be announced shortly after holding a Cabinet meeting.
The 100 days programme would include laying of foundation stone for National Sports University by Prime Minister Narendra Modi by mid-May and commencement of the University’s maiden session with two faculties at Khuman Lampak Sports complex.
Opening of Traffic Police wing led by an SP in order to streamline the haphazard traffic system of Imphal city, establishment of separate police stations to deal with cyber crimes, promotion of community policing with the objective of smoothening police-public relation and identification of 12,000 households of labourers/workers in order to provide their children proper place of education and daily diets would also feature in the 100 days programme, Biren stated.

Meanwhile, the State Government has issued an order to emboss photograph of Deendayal Upadhyaya on all official letterheads and print items of the State Government in commemoration of his centenary celebration, Biren informed the gathering.
He further instructed BJP workers who attended the meeting to organise meetings, seminars and discussion session of Deendayal Upadhyaya starting from booth level.
He stated that the Prime Minister’s Maan Ki Baat programme should be played on radio at booth level.
Calling upon BJP office bearers and workers to strive relentlessly not to erode people’s trust in the BJP-led Government, Biren exuded confidence that BJP can win the next Panchayat and Lok Sabha elections without going for extensive election campaigns provided the party can uphold people’s trust and Ministers are allowed to work freely.
He appealed to all Ministers to avoid public functions/programmes for at least the next one/two year(s). All the Ministers of the State Government and their activities are being monitored closely by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Delhi in the interest of the people of the State.
Conveying about the NITI Ayog meeting held at Delhi which was also attended by Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States, N Biren stated that the Prime Minister has been monitoring at micro level how frequently and extensively Ministers interact with people on Facebook, Twitter, You Tube and other social media.
“The Prime Minister was gratified on my assurance that a new scheme would be introduced from April under which aged pensioners would not be required to stand in long queues in front of banks to withdraw their pensions”, Biren claimed.
Quoting the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister stated that a Minister is not competent enough if he/she does not have at least 30 lakh followers on Facebook/Twitter and other social media.
According to Biren, he was congratulated by Narendra Modi when he informed the Prime Minister that the State Government has been able to remove the lines of divisions that separated hill people and plain people.
Every family should have a house and safe drinking water should be accessible to them. The existing schemes can cater to all the needs and aspirations of the people and there is no need to take up new schemes. Proper and successful implementation of the existing schemes can draw more and more people to the people and it would ensure the party’s victory in elections, Biren asserted.
Claiming that the projects and schemes implemented by BJP Government are public-oriented, Biren maintained that he hardly found negative comments in social media with regard to different activities of the Government.
The Government believes that development can be achieved through humanitarian service. Putting this belief into action can fasten the inter-community relationships, Biren added.
