IMPHAL, Sep 10: Leaving behind the never-ending sorrows and grief over the loss of beloved ones, the families of the deceased Thokchom Rabina and Chungkham Sanjit who were the victims of July 23 fake encounter at BT Road involving Manipur police commandos have been able to find some solace after the final reports of investigation of the CBI have come out.
“We have been awaiting for the moment that the security forces in the state who have been given free reign at the whim of AFSPA should get penalized, if they have gone beyond the jurisdictions of laws of the land, so that the gross human rights violation in the name of counter-insurgency operations is reduced in the future to come,” said Thokchom Chinglen, husband of deceased Rabina.
In the meantime, expressing a calm index on her face the mother of deceased Rabina with tearful eyes said that the moment of justice seems to be nearer, and let the CBI final investigation report submitted to the court be implemented by the state government so that the culprit police personnel get punished as per the law of the country as it has been awaited from last many years by the humiliated people of the state.

The traumatized mother who has been undergoing series of physical and emotional stress was somehow given solace by the CBI’s investigation and subsequent framing of chargesheet against nine accused police personnel involved in the BT Road firing incident.
She said that she was overwhelmed at hearing the news of nine accused police personnel being chargesheeted by the CBI after conducting thorough investigations into the incident of July 23 police firing.
The investigation of CBI would help in bringing justice to the bereaved families of the victims of July 23 incident and so the state government should also help in punishing the culprits, she asserted.
The treasurer of JAC (Sanjit), Yumnam Sheela stated that the months-long protests and agitations launched by the people against the killing of Sanjit and Rabina have been fruitful in pressurizing the state government to bring out the truth of the July 23 incident. The JAC welcomed the framing of chargesheet as a major development in the course of delivering justice but it would once again launch stern agitations if the government tries to cover up the accused police personnel, she said.
