Militant involved in Nagamapal non local killing amongst arrested informs SSP


IMPHAL, Sept 24: In what could be a significant development in the non-locals killing case, security forces have arrested 14 militant cadres including perpetrators involved in the recent killing of two migrant workers, from separate counter insurgency operations in the past three days.

The Senior Superintendent of Police Imphal west district L. Kailun, during a press conference informed that since yesterday district police commandos have arrested three PLA cadres involved in the killing of two migrant workers at Nagamapal and Uripok some time back.

The arrested militants have been identified as one Wahengbam Haridev alias Don Singh, 28, s/o (L) W. Tomba Singh of Wahengbam Leikai, Gurumayum Nimaichand Sharma, 36, s/o (L) G. Lalbapu Sharma of Uripok Nagamapal Singjubung Leirak and Nityaichandra Pal, 22, s/o (L) Anilchandra Pal.

The SSP further mentioned that the district police had taken the case of the non local killings seriously and had started CI ops in the district. And as part of the operation, a team of the district police yesterday picked up one Wahengbam Haridev from his residence PLA flags/festoons/posters for use in the forthcoming raising day of the outfit.

Following his disclosure police commandos were able to identify the assailant of the Nagamapal killing as one Gurumayum Nimaichand and that he had transferred the weapon used in the crime to one Nityaichandra Pal.

Immediately Nityaichandra was picked from a rented house at Uripok Tourangbam Leikai alongwith a 9mm pistol (Mauser-Werke) and nine live ammunitions. The house from which he was arrested belongs to Tourangbam Jishu alias James alias Meira s/o (L) T. Madhumangol Singh of Uripok Panchaya Maning, said the SSP.

The Senior SP further asserted that the main suspect Nimaichand was picked up this morning at around 9:20 am from the residence of Dr. Arambam Ratankumar Singh s/o (L) A. Shyamkanhai Singh of Singjubung Leirak. He admitted to have committed both the crimes as per the direction of s/s sgt. maj. Jishu alias James alias Meira of the PLA, he said.

The suspect is also found out to be youngest brother of s/s assistant army chief of PLA, G. Inaocha Sharma alias Jame and sgt. major Tourangbam Jishu and cousin brother of G. Jiteshwor Sharma alias Ningthem alias Gypsy alias Changjou, assistant publicity secretary of PLA/RPF, further informed the SP.

At the same time, one more PLA cadre and a sympathizer, was also arrested by the district commandos from Khoyathong yesterday around 4:10 pm, the SP said. The PLA cadre is identified as one Thongam Thoiba Singh alias Holand, 36, s/o Th. Modhu Singh of Kwakeithel Makha Thokchom Leikai s/s 2nd lt. and secy. division-II (Imphal East) while the sympathizer is identified as one Brajabishimayum Robin Sharma, 42, s/o B. Shyamkishor alias B. Sharma of Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong.

In another incident the district police along with 18 Sikh, Tuluhal yesterday arrested three KCP (MDF) cadres from Hiyangthang including a suspect involved in shooting of a lady Panchayat of Mayang Imphal on September 16, the Senior SP further informed.

He said they were arrested around 5:10 pm and have been identified as one Yumnam Sobha Singh a personnel of the3rd IRB with rifle No.132001285  s/o Y. Menjor Singh of Irom Meijrao Mamang Leikai, , Laishram Amarjit alias Inaoton, 24, s/o L. Ibocha Singh of Utlou Chanura Mamang, Md. Ibomcha Phundreimayum, 25, s/o Md. Rahim of Hatta Mana Ingkhol, Md. Abdul Rashid, 62, s/o (L) Md. Jan Mohammad of Sangaiyumphal Mairenkhul and Md. Ithem alias Abdul, 36, s/o Md. Abdul Rashid of Sangaiyumphal Mairenkhul.    

Sobha is involved in the shooting of a lady Panchayat member at Mayang Imphal and working under one Shanti of KCP (MDF), the SSP added.

Two AK-56 Assault Rifles with 110 live rounds, nine Chinese hand grenades, one Tata Sumo with regd no. AS11AC-0430 and one Bajaj Scooter with regd no. MN-IE/2513, were seized from them, the SP said.

He further added that another KCP (Noyon) was also arrested today morning around 8am from Churachandpur parking, Keishampat identified as one Haorangbam Bijoypal alias Inaobi, 40, s/o H. Borachaoba Singh of Wangkhei Thangapat Mapal. He is working under one s/s 2nd Lt. Noren who is stationed at Myanmar, he added.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Senior SP Imphal East district has stated that a combined team of the district commandos and 23 AR arrested one PREPAK and KCP cadres from Keibi Khullen and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions from them.

They have been identified as one Sagolsem Lenin alias Leihao Singh, 31, s/o Ratan of Keibi Loushangkhong (PREPAK) and one Laishram Inao alias Bimol alias Charan, 35, s/o L Mamchand, both resident of Keibi Khullen.

One IED weighing 4 kgs, one 9mm pistol (Petro & Berrata), one magazine, nine live ammunitions 9mm, nine live ammunitions of .32 pistol, five Chinese hand grenades, five detonators (mechanical), four demand letters of KCP MC, three mobile handsets and four sim cards were recovered from them, it said. 

A combined team of Thoubal district cdos and Police personnel of Imphal police station arrested one UPRF cadre along with a Chinese hand grenade while conducting operation at Lilong Usoipokpi on September 22 identified as one Sanayaima alias Naeem, 23, s/o Hibzur Rehman of Yairipok Bamon Leikai, said a statement issued by the Thoubal SP.

In another statement issued by SP Bishnupur Police, district police commandos further arrested one UNLF cadre from Forest gate Bishnupur yesterday identified as one Nongthombam Dinesh Meitei alias Naoba Ibocha alias Pintingkai, 23, s/o N. Debeshwor of Yumnam Patlou.
