Two year old found dead with gold earrings missing

IMPHAL, December 31:  A two year old boy was found floating on the Imphal River at Laphupat Tera after he was found missing by his uncle who had accompanied the two year old to the local ground for the preparation of a Thabal Chongba to celebrate the New Year.

The gold earrings and chain were missing from his body, local source informed.

According to a reliable source, the boy has been identified as Ningthoujam Ardish, s/o N Shyamchandra of Laphupat Tera.

Elaborating on the incident, locals informed that the boy had accompanied his uncle identified as Tunel, 19 to the local ground regarding the preparation of a Thabal Chongba.

However Tunel got engrossed in the preparation and forgot about the boy, later on he realized that the boy was missing from the ground and sent someone to his home to check with the family, the locals informed.

The informer returned and told Tunel that the boy was at his home after which, Tonel continued with the preparation of the thabal chongba, the source informed.

Meanwhile, a local woman of the neighbouring village informed the volunteers gathered at the ground that she had seen a dead body of a young boy floating on the river.

Meanwhile, disturbed by the news, Tunel along with the others rushed to the site and found out the boy to be Ardish.

After picking the body of the child, the locals found that both his gold earrings and a gold chain around his neck were missing, the local source informed.

They further rushed the child to the RIMS hospital; however doctors informed that the child was brought dead.

Concern police has registered a case in this regard.
