IMPHAL, March 5: The contractual staffs of Manipur State Aids Control Society (MACS) in all the districts of Manipur is likely to close down all the ART, ICTC, PPTCT, RPC and STI centres and launch a cease work strike to push their demands.

In a representation enclosed with signatures of 76 staff which was submitted to the project director, MACS, Imphal, today, peripheral staff of MACS, which included ART centres, ICTC, PPTCT, STI and RPC said they request the MACS director to kindly avail them their due revised pay, due arrears, copy of personal extension orders along with the pay structures within 15 days failing which they might opt to take up a cease work strike.

They warned, “We have to take up unwanted step of closing down all the centres under MACS if our demands are not met within a fortnight.”

The agitation would have been launched long before but remained put off as they are concerned about the country, particularly the PLHIV, they said.

The peripheral staff also said they are hopeful that the MACS director will be kind enough to their demands in the interest of the contractual staff as well as the PLHIV communities of the State and avoid unwanted situation.
