IMPHAL, Oct 29: Councillors, staffs and workers of the Imphal municipal council staged sit in protest in front of their office gate today noon against the bomb threat by suspected militants to the chairperson of Imphal Municipal Council as well as to the chairperson of Bazaar Board Committee.
Speaking with media persons, one of the protesters, said that suspected militants lobed a hand grenade at the residence of IMC Chairperson, L Raghumani at Singjamei on September 14 and on October 20 again some suspected militants placed a bomb at the residence of the Bazaar Committee chairperson, Sanasam Binarani of Thangmeiband Watham Leirak.
He further said that a Councillor of IMC have also received threat calls from some UG groups.
He appealed the UG groups not to threaten them any more so that they can work for the betterment of the IMC and to keep the city clean.
Due to the protest, the IMC office functioning were paralysed and all the workers and employees stay out of their daily routine work of cleaning the city.
