Sangeet Samaj celebrates its golden Jubilee

IMPHAL, November 17:  The second Golden Jubilee celebration of Sawombung Sangeet Samaj, Imphal East was held today at its office premise at Sawombung.  

The function was attended by Member of Parliament T Meinya, president of Sawombung Sangeet Samaj, Kh Inaobi and Vice Chancellor of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Dr N Tombi as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Giving the keynote address of the function, L Maipak, general secretary of Sawombung Sangeet Samaj, said that the academy is celebrating its yearlong golden jubilee celebration, and today’s function is the 2nd function of the celebration. He further added that more celebration would be coming up in different parts of Imphal East district.

The opening day of the function was held on October 10, 2012 in which the academy aims to preserve and protect the rice culture and tradition of the state, he said.

Dr N Tombi, speaking at the function, expressed his unhappiness over the irregularity during the payment of grant. He urged the Ministry of Culture to look into the matter more seriously.

Addressing the function as chief guest, T Meinya MP, said that as a citizen of the democratic country, all of us need to know the real meaning of democracy and should to be aware of our own rights. He further added that it is our right to asked for grant provided by the Ministry of Culture in different ways for the purpose of preservation of culture and tradition.

He further maintained that in our society there is only 2 groups in this whole world, one is male and other is female but women have more capability to take greater risk comparing with men counterpart.

He further added that the govt have implemented various schemes for the welfare of women and child, like Intergrated Child development Schemes (ICDS) to provide nutritional and health support to mother and child. He added that even throughout various Aganwadi centre many services are provided for the welfare new born child but it’s unfortunate that many centre has not provide the expected outcome.

He added that for the children between 6 to 14-yrs of age, the government of India has taken up the schemes like Sarvha Sisksha Ahviyan to enable free and compulsory education to every children’s of the country by providing  free book, uniforms, mid day meal etc.

He further said that he will try to help the sangeet samaj to acquire their un-availed grant. And further added that the sangeet samaj members to hands him over the report of grant utilisation. 

He said that our state is compounded with different community and issues, and it is very important for all of us to think and work collectively to stay the coming days in peace.
