ESS staffs warns to launch cease work strike

IMPHAL, December 20: The Emergency Essential Staff (Saphaiwali) of the Airport Authority of India, at Imphal Airport has appealed to the concerned authority to remove the present contractor soon and give their rightful supposed salary otherwise cease work strike will be launched.

This was said by supervisor of ESS staff Geeta Maibam in a press meet held at Manipur Press Club today.

She then said the ESS Staff has been threatened by Kangjam Nilabir S/o Pisak of Malom Bazar stating that he will be the contractor for 2013 and instead of the supposed monthly salary of Rs 6000 he will pay Rs 3000 as salary and Rs 500 as EPF which will be transferred in his account. The Staff were asked to sign that they received Rs 6000/- with the rider that who do not accept the status quo, could leave the job.

According to Geeta, the said contractor has already paid lesser salary to the staffs when he took the contract of the year 2010-11. She further added that a Complaint has been lodged in writing to Joint General Manager of Airport Authority Workers Union, Airport Authority of India, Imphal and Regional Executive Director of north east.
