IMPHAL, Jan 18: The central secretariat of the Communist Party of India has said in a press release that the party firmly opposes the decontrol of diesel which has opened the doors for the oil marketing companies to raise prices every month.“The companies have started their drive by promptly raising price of diesel”, it said.Demanding immediate rollback of the price hike, it said, “This will inevitably lead to rise in the transportation costs, costs of production in agriculture and thus have a cascading effect on the price structure, when the country is already in the grip of inflation and when subsidies meant for the poor and the common people are being cut across the board”.
