Club 25 International for safe blood drive in state

IMPHAL, February 27: `Club 25 International, Manipur` a youth driven global program through which blood donors will take a lead role in heath promotion as well as saving lives through regular blood donations, has been launched. This was announced by K Karnajit Singh, the Secretary General of the group at a press meet at the Manipur Press Club today.

He further said club 25 International Manipur will encourage young adults aged 16 to 25 years to give  safe blood donations 25 times at 25 years of age and that its members are committed to give blood regularly and to adopt a healthy lifestyles order to be a low risk blood donor.  

He continued that the reason for starting Club 25 International Manipur under the theme of  “new blood for the world” is to ensure self-sufficiency of blood in the state as well as in the country from voluntary, anonymous and non-remunerated blood donors in accordance with the recommendation from World Health Organisation and the International Society of Blood Transfusion and council of Europe.

He further said the organization was established in Zimbabwe in 1989 and Club 25 International Manipur was formed on January 22, 2013.

It has already spread out with units at most districts of the state, he said and added that it will be organizing awareness campaigns.
