Translators for Commission in fake encounter cases appointed

IMPHAL, March 1: Four state government advocates have been appointed to assist the Supreme Court appointed commission to investigate six cases of fake encounters which will begin its inquiry on March 3, as translators.

According to a reliable source, the four appointed government advocates includes Government Advocate of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class/Imphal (JMIC/Imphal); Government Advocate of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class/Imphal West (JMIC/IW) and Government Advocate of Gauhati High Court/Imphal Bench.

The official appointment order of the four government advocates as translator was issued by the Law Secretary Rameshchandra on February 28.

The commission will begin with its proceedings from March 2 at Hotel Classic’s Classic Regency conference hall on the  4th Floor and the inquiry is set to begin from March 3. The commission’s sitting will be held every day from 9 am till 4 pm.

The cross examination process for those who have filed their affidavit to commission will also start from March 3 and deponent of the affidavit filled will appear before the commission on March 4 at 9 am. In regard to this, Supreme Court appointed commission’s secretary PS Moorthy issued a public notification on February 24 last.
