TAMENGLONG, April 19 (NNN): The militant outfit Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has accused the NSCN-IM of killing truck driver S Babu Singh (40) along the National Highway 37 (Imphal-Silchar Road) on April 17 night.
“The ZUF condemns once again the mischievous action of NSCN (IM), who carried out the unfortunate incident where one innocent truck driver was shot dead and injured others and burning of vehicles at a secluded place between Charoi Pandongba and Senam Village (Kharam area) on April 17. Clear information have been collected through the `information and publicity cell` of the ZUF that the barbaric and heinous act was carried out by none other than NSCN (IM) cadres, who came along from Talamlong (Waphong) near Haochong village, Tamenglong district. The NSCN (IM) gang picked up two Waphong Talamlong villagers on the said day and carried out the crime in the operational area of ZUF and left immediately as if to throw the blame on us (ZUF) and to make the people suspect us,” ZUF information secretary A Dangmei said today.
“The Zeliangrong people, whether in the same party or in different factions or the civilians are not safe given the evil designs of the NSCN (IM),” the ZUF stated.
The ZUF then asked, “In many chapters of Naga political history, why did the NSCN (IM) is so sensitive in Zeliangrong areas? Why not in other Naga dominated regions?”
A Dangmei then said these should be stopped at once and warned that the ZUF cannot stand by as silent spectators.
