JIRIBAM, May 3: The sudden storm that occurred last night has caused damages at various places in Jiribam.
Many houses and trees at Sonapur, Agalapur, Chingdong Leikai and Kadmala were damaged in the storm. However, no human casualty was reported.
Many electrical wires and poles were also damaged by the storm in and around the surrounding hills and areas of Jiribam.
The under construction Indoor stadium at Jiri College was severely damaged by the storm with the surrounding walls and framework of the construction falling apart.
It may be mentioned here that the people of Jiri had urged the Government to station officials of the concerned departments at Jiribam to provide assistance and to save the public from natural disasters, following a flood last year which caused severe damages to houses, killed domestic animals and even caused lost of human lives.
