KANGPOKPI, June 3: The 2nd HSLC Sadar Hills Top 10 Meritorious Award 2013 has been conferred to the 10 highest rank holders of HSLC Exam 2013 from Sadar Hills with a cash award of Rs.3000/- and a memento each under the sponsorship of Smt.Nemcha Kipgen, MLA of 50 AC Kangpokpi.
The Meritorious Award function was organized by Kuki Students` Organization Sadar Hills.
Apart from Nemcha Kipgen, MLA the occasion was attended by Pastors, Reverends, Church leaders, Haokholen Guite, EM ADC Sadar Hills, Lamkholen Kipgen, EM ADC Sadar Hills, Addl.DC Kangpokpi DK.Thangboi, ZEO Kangpokpi Smt.Ngahchong Kipgen, SBI Kangpokpi Branch Manager Nikunja Singh, KTC, KWWO, KYU and parents and guardians of the successful candidates.
Speaking at the function, Thangminlen Kipgen, President KSO-SH said that, this year the meritorious award has been extended to the entire district and next year it shall cover the successful candidates of HSSLC too.
He further said that, the the award is conferred not only to encourage the student to excel in flying colors in the exam but also to cultivate the spirit of competition mindset and quality education while adding that the student body is committed to curb unfair means in all examinations within the district and sough cooperation from the parents and guardians to materialize it.
Nemcha Kipgen, MLA while speaking on the sideline of the award function emphasized on the significant of education saying that without education there is no development, civilization or peace.
“Education helps us to learn the basic value of life and importantly it teaches moral lessons” added the MLA while pointing out that education is what makes us who we are.
Nemcha noted that, it is vital for students today to focus on humanity besides adding that it is the foremost activities of the society to educate the citizens.
While focusing the need to educate women the MLA said that, it is the uneducated persons who think women are not entitled to get access to education while adding that the key to success is hard work, sincerity and honesty.
The MLA also encouraged the students to bring more laurels to the society and the nation as well as to become a promising leader in the near future.
