IMPHAL, June 3: The Great June Uprising, Unity Day 2013 observation committee has condoled the death of 21 year old girl from the state at her rented room in Chirag, South Delhi on May 29.
Speaking at a press conference, KT Rahaman, chairman of the Great June Uprising, Unity Day 2013 at UCM office, condemned both the state and central governments for not taking befitting action in trying to find the culprit(s) even after six days since the incident.
He further said the MPs of the state should take full responsibility to take up the issues faced by students and others of the state in other parts of the country in the Parliament.
He further said that the state government should take up precautionary measures for the security of the students who are studying in other part of the state.
Speaking at the press conference Nabachandra, vice chairman, the Great June Uprising, Unity Day 2013 said after persistent demand by North East communities residing in Delhi, the Malviya Nagar Police station, agreed to register a case in connection with the suspicious death of the girl which is very unfortunate and condemnable as they had failed to perform their duty well.
It clearly depicts that the people of the mainland India discriminate against the NE people.
Meanwhile, coming to the June 18 observation, he has appealed to all not to observe any entertainment programs on the day of the observation.
