JIRIBAM, June 3: Concerned with the low pass percentage in the recently declared Class X and XII exams conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and the Council of Secondary Education, Manipur in the Jiribam Sub Division; the Manipuri Students’ Federation, Jiribam Branch has held the state government and the Jiribam Higher Secondary School teachers responsible for the low percentage.

A press release of the student body has alleged that the teachers are only enjoying their salaries and staying at Imphal instead of staying at their posting places.

The press release further went on to alleged that a teacher for engineering & drawing teacher, an English teacher and a Geography teacher have failed to return to Jiribam school after going back to Imphal, even though the classes have already started.

It has further questioned the government of Manipur on what basis the teachers are drawing their salaries.

The road and bridge could be constructed at any convenient time but human resource should be improved at the moment so that the much said ‘quality education’ would prevail.

The press statement further reminded of a sit in protest that was staged against the shortage of teachers after the transfer of two teachers.

Further commenting on the government inaction, the press statement cited examination related statistics and said only eight students have passed in the HSLC examination though 135 students had appeared and 284 (Arts 170, Science 94, and Commerce 20) students had appeared in the class XII, though only 56 (Arts 21, Science 36) students could pass the examination.
