Hill Area Committee VC inspects Tamei -Magulong road stretch

IMPHAL, February 20: The road stretch of Tamei to Magulang was inspected today by a team of Hill Area Committee headed by its vice-chairman Z Kikhonbou Newmai, MLA of Tamei A/C along with Tousem SDO, PMGSY engineers and other officials. The inspection was made into two parts – first from Tamei to Dikuram and the second from Katang to Magulong.

During the inspection tour, Z Kikhonbou mentioned that this road stretches have been constructed under the funding of the 7th Prime Minister Gram Sarak Yojana and the bridge over Barak River located between Katang and Dikuram was started construction in the year 2005 with NEC funding of Rs 3 crore but discontinued owing to problem of having multiple contractors.

The MLA further said that the contraction of the said bridge has been resumed from 2012 when he became elected representative of the of the 52 Tamei A/C with the state money of Rs 50 lakhs adding that the bridge is now functioning for public traffic but needs some modification for certain area. The road stretch between Katang and Dikuram and also the retaining wall of the area will be soon enlisted in the coming work program. He further announced that the road stretch of Katang and Magulong will be developed and further expressed that he will give more stress on village to village road connectivity in his tenure.

Narrating the development of the assembly segment, he mentioned that altogether 20 villages are electrified in the Tousem area with the help of the Chief Minister of Manipur, seven junior high schools are upgraded to high school and some primary school to upper primary school.

One villager expressed his happiness on the development of the Tousem area and added that all the future enterprise of the MLA is believed to be successful. He further appealed to local MLA to do work for the development of the people.
