IMPHAL, May 26: The martyrs who laid down their lives safeguarding the territorial integrity of the state which was going to be affected by the Bangkok Declaration signed between NSCN (M) and the Government of India will be commemorated this year as well.
The observation committee jointly formed by All Manipur United Clubs’ Oganisation (AMUCO) and United Committee Manipur (UCM) will be observing the 13th “The Great June Uprising Unity Day, 2014” at Kekrupat.
This was stated by UCM, president, Y Nabachandra at a press conference in the AMUCO office today late afternoon.
He appealed the people of the state to contribute money or in kind to make the observation a grand success, urging people cutting across all communities to visit the memorial sites to commemorate the martyrs and pay floral tribute like in the past years.
The observation of such memorable day is not against any community, he clarified.
AMUCO president Dr Y ManiKumar also appealed the people of the state to visit the memorial of those brave souls who laid their lives for the people of the state and for safeguarding or territorial integrity, urging people to contribute money or in kind which will help in smooth conduct of the programme.
The observation of June 18 will always be a reminder to the future generations that some brave souls lay down their lives to safeguard our territorial integrity.
