40 oil tankers to leave for Assam amidst Karbi bandh

IMPHAL, October 27: Over 40 petroleum tankers including diesels, SK Oil, petroleum tankers will leave Imphal for Assam late in the evening today amidst the 1,000 hour Karbi Anglong bandh called by the Joint Action Committee for Autonomous State (JACAS).

The tankers will be escorted from Imphal till Khuzuma by Manipur sector CRPF, from there the Nagaland sector CRPF will escort the tankers till Khatkhati and Khatkhati to Gholaghat by Assam police and Assam rifles.

While the tankers will cover around 32 kilometres within the Karbi Anglong bandh affected areas, altogether 70 loaded petroleum tankers are stranded at Khatkhati and reportedly bound for Imphal tomorrow.
