IMPHAL, October 5: It is time to embrace regionalism; many States of India have begun to understand the impediment of `high command` in political party. The fate of the State should be decided by a regional party like MPP.

This was stated by former deputy Chief Minister, Dr L Chandramani during the flag hoisting ceremony of MPP candidate of Hiyanglam by-pol, Mayengbam Amutombi Singh, which was held today morning at Mayeng Lamjao public ground, Hiyanglam.

Dr L Chandramani maintained that time has come for the public to understand the nature of `high command`, which is detrimental to independent functioning of political party. He said that MPP is a political party without a high command.

N Sovakiran, president of the MPP, who also spoke during the ceremony, said that the Hiyanglam by-pol is a fight between national party and regional party. He continued that it is a good opportunity for the people of Hiyanglam to teach Congress a lesson.

He lamented that Hiyanglam constituency has been neglected for the last 28 years. There is need for a new leadership to bring about change.

Further, he said that the present Indian National Congress is no longer with the people who fought for India`™s independence; most of them have left the party to form new political outfits with the suffix `congress`™.

He added that the dynastic rule of the Congress has been routed in the last Lok Sabha election. This is an indication that the Congress party is nearing its end.

Sovakiran further alleged that the present 47 MLAs of the Congress have won their election through money and muscle power, before adding that the Chief Minister has not paid a single visit to Hiyanglam constituency.

The Candidate of MPP Amutombi said that he would fight against corruption, and ensure that education and health care will be among his top priorities. He also said economic empowerment of the people is needed to bring development in the constituency.

Further, he added that people of Hiyanglam are yearning for a change, and he as a candidate is committed to it.

After the flag hosting ceremony, a public rally was taken out by the candidate along with his supporters.
